Great Changes Coming to Tamarak This Summer!
We’re counting down the days to camp and can’t wait for the summer to begin. We continually evaluate Tamarak to make sure we are offering the best, most enriching programming for your child and we are really excited about our changes for this summer.
A, B & C Campers (2nd-5th grade) will have more choice in their daily schedules.
We know that children (especially older ones) are empowered when they have the ability to make choices on their own, and everyone wants to spend their time doing activities that they enjoy the most. Therefore, throughout the week, A, B & C campers will have the opportunity to choose activities of interest to them from options such as Athletics, Archery, Tennis, Dance, Drama, Arts and Crafts, Fitness and more. We will encourage campers to balance their activities to include physical and creative options, but the final decision will be their own. Campers will continue to have swim lessons twice each day.
Our older campers (A & B Campers-3rd through 5th grade)will also have “Specialty Camp” choices 2 times per week. Taking place at camp or off-site venues, these activities will teach fundamental skills in sports such as Soccer or Lacrosse or provide hands-on learning in more creative activities such as Drama or Set Design. Regardless of what your camper chooses, they will have a greater opportunity to explore and learn in an area of their interest.
Our youngest campers (D and E’s -Kindergarten and 1st grade)
will have more time to do their favorite activities.
Included in our programming changes, we have increased the amount of time each of our younger campers will be able to participate in Fitness/Yoga, Tae Kwon Do, Science and Athletics and many other activities. Of course, all of our youngest campers will continue to have swim lessons twice each day.
We can’t forget about our Munchkins!
We made terrific changes to the Munchkin program last year by offering an option to attend for the full day or have a pick up at camp at 1 p.m. This was so well received that we are offering the same schedule again this summer. For Munchkin campers staying for the full day, we will again be offering an additional swim, arts and crafts, athletic field activities, music and more.
We feel that these program changes will allow all of our campers the opportunity to explore their interests and to learn new skills, while also taking part in the other fantastic programming that campers and parents have always loved about Tamarak.
Watch for our next update that will include a listing of staff as well as facility improvements.
As always, we are here everyday and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely,
Lucia and Dave

As a quick summer reminder, mark your calendars! Bus visiting day will be Thursday, June 14th. Tamarak bus counselors will be stopping by your house practicing the routes, introducing themselves and dropping off camp shirts, back packs and sportswear. They will be visiting between 9 and 11 in the morning. Also, the Camper/Parent "Open House" will be Friday, June 15th. You will receive more details in the coming weeks.
